In this case, the stimuli for Ran regaining her memory is the event at the fountain which reminds her of what she previously had forgotten. But, memory can be recovered through spontaneous recovery, which involves a patient being exposed to stimuli that is related to what memory was lost.
So telling someone about things they’ve done or re-exposing a patient to past information won’t help. A person suffering from retrograde amnesia cannot recover memories by simply being told experiences and identity. It’s a real thing and yes it can be caused by traumatic events. Why it’s on a screen regarding APTX 4869 is beyond me.
